I just purchased this...
EBMM_2.jpg

and am wondering the opinion of my friends here. Can I change the black pup cover to white, put a white pearl pick guard, and swap out the black knobs for chrome?

Should I go black pearl?

Should I just tort it?

Or should I leave it as is?

I think the opening part of your question has the answer. I think it looks perfect as is, but it is your baby and you can dress her up as you please.

Congrats and Enjoy.

Tort AND White Cover..

Why the HELL not?

I've been looking at the Classic 5s on GC's Platinum site...weird combos I'd never think to consider, then...well, you see it and go "cooowal"

I don't think you can change the pickup cover on the SR5. If I am not mistaken, they are glued in.

I say leave it the way it is. If not, white pearloid with the contrasting black pickup and control knobs might look good too.

I think it looks great the way it is - matt finish pg also? Plain white guard does look good on a teal trans - you could try it with the current black knobs and switch end finisher (Tony Levin's peach SR5 is like this - guess he switched a black pg on it).

The pu covers are glued on these so you'd probably have to change the whole thing to get the completely white look.

Pearl guard, white pup cover and chrome knobs, changing the knobs first would be an easy start, it's all good.

Hmmmm so it seems you can't just switch the pup cover as it's glued? Well either I'm leaving it alone, or looking for an Abalone pick guard. That's about as far as I will be able to go I guess. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Black Ice would be cool too, but aren't they disco'd?

Just go with a white pearl.

Love how you went back to the simple H Stingray, great call, less is more IMO.

The funny thing is that back in 2007 when I first started buying EBMM's, I was convinced that I only liked the HH models. I actually sold 2 very nice single H models, and now wish I had at least one of them back. I really enjoy the point and shoot simplicity of the single H. I actually sold the Hss because it had TOO many sound options. Plus it never really nailed the SOUND I got with either the H or HH models.
