I have had the return auth number for 8 months now. But I don't know if it is worth the trouble, or the chance that my gtr will not play the same to have a finish crack repaired.. Any thoughts on my dilemma??
Thanks

If you are talking about a neck pocket stress crack, I'm pretty sure they replace the whole body, so it will not be the "same" guitar when you get it back. If I'm wrong, somebody correct me, I hate giving bad info.

I think Ernie's correct - personally, I would not return any of my babies for a cosmetic issue...

my guess in your case is no. if you haven't been able to bring yourself to part w/ the guitar for this long............that indicates to me that you really like THAT guitar......and you are happy w/ it.
my guitars fit me like a worn pair of jeans.
it ain't actually broke.......so don't fix it.......
for people that are only concerned about looks.....and haven't bonded to the personality of the guitar ......they would only be happy w/ a perfect lookin trophy....

:)

Thanks for th input guys. It hasn't grown any bigger since I 1st noticed it. If I am right, it is only a finish issue, and not a crack in the body itself. Right? I have a 1972 Tele Thinline that I bought new. Over the years the pickguard has shrunk. There a places in the nitrocell lacquer that are crazing. But I wouldn't change/repair it for anything. As long as you guys opinions, like mine, are that it is just in the finish, I say "don't sweat the small stuff". I have been "tweakin" this Gtr for the past 4 years, and I think that I have it JUST right. God forbid that my anal ass should have to start again. Then I wouldn't have time to screw around on this forum. I would have screwdrivers / allen wrenches / and gauges all over the place, and my wife would cut me off yet again!!
Thanks for the help, Bryce in Atlanta

I'm going to tread carefully here as I don't want to annoy anyone at EBMM - I returned my Silo Special a few times due to cracking in the neck pocket area - I do not believe a brand new guitar should have these cracks, no matter if they are purely cosmetic or whatever. I just played a new Petrucci last week in Mystic Dream finish that was cracked on both sides - if I had paid for that paintwork, bearing in mind the upcharge, I would be seriously p***ed off. Fair play to EBMM, they have worked very hard to make me happy, even when I was less than grateful. What it boils down to is - can you live with it? I know some players whose guitars are battered and abused and they wouldn't bat an eyelid at a small crack in the neck pocket - I'm not one of those guys. Personally I'd send it back - just my 2c,

Leave it as it is. Seems that you love the guitar so just keep it.
Different body different sound - so you can´t go back.
And your brain knows that the guitar is not the same anymore so maybe you will go nuts !!!
asking yourself if the sound was better before or not so good etc etc...

I personally wouldn´t do it.
My opinion.

I would have to agree w/ you. If the guitar came w/ stress cracks or developed them almost immediately after, I would return it as well. You paid for a brand new instrument and should get that. If you bought it used or the retailer heavily discounted the brand new guitar I wouldn't return it because I new what I was getting and got compensated accordingly.

Back in High School my brother got a killer deal on a Heartfield Talon that was cosmetically damaged and we still play that thing w/o caring about the paint. The good deal we got supercedes the cosmetic damage.

My 2 pennies. I got my brand new Rad Red and it had a tiny stress crack in the finish of the neck pocket. I called Bassplayr (who I ordered it through) and let him know. Bare in mind, it was winter here and I firmly believe weather was the issue. He told me I could send it back and get it re-done. But, I had to play it first and see.....well, this JP was tonally different than my others and it was just something out of this world. I had a conversation with jongitarz and he told me that it would be replaced and could change tonally. I elected to keep her.....the best decision I made. My other Pet with the broke neck got two stress cracks and I had the neck replaced. Jongitarz again told me the body was fine after he looked at it, so I just went with the neck replacement. Awesome guitar and repair as usual.

If you have not sent it by now....you don't need to because obviously, you love that axe. Keep it.....it's all good.
