Since everybody want to chat and like to write a comment about the guitars in "For Sale" thread like - wow , so beautiful, killer top etc. Let's make the "for sale" thread a sub forum , so every guitar will has its own thread and everyone can chat about that guitar freely.

Good idea?

Makes sense...it would also make it easier to spot new items etc. (It's easy to miss new items for sale unless you read every post.) You would also some sense of how recently the post was made from just looking at the list of posts.

If we used poj's suggestion, would you also want to introduce a convention/rule for creation of titles for a post in the sub-forum?? eg Kind of instrument - species - other description

eg

Guitar: Luke - Dargie Delight
Guitar: Silo - LE 2007
Guitar: Silo - Rad Red S-S-S
Bass: Stingray - Black
Guitar: Petrucci 7 - Mystic Dream fully loaded

(Just a suggestion! But might make browsing the sub-forum quicker. :) )

Poj's suggestion would be a better solution, but I have still seen those style turn into multi pagers.

I would like to see it changed so each thread itself is closed for discussion. i.e. replies are disabled. Then the banter can take place between the seller and purchaser.
It should also be a service that is not provided to a poster unless the have been a member of the community for X amount of days.

In most cases the seller is soliciting potential purchasers, not soliciting comments on the gear. Its the comments that usually prevent the advertisement from being seen.

When selling gear I can't really think of any time when I have found the need to "check the thread" for comments - that is what the PM feature is for.

Good point (ie about making it "closed")....get rid of some of the "static". ;)

Just playing devil's advocate...What about legitimate questions that might be asked a dozen times? eg "Are those the original pickups?" or "Would you e prepared to ship overseas?" If one poster can ask the question, and receive an answer, then (hopefully) the seller won't be inundated with multiple PMs asking the same question.

poj, I think this idea is worth a shot! That would be really easy to see what's on tap. Besides naming the threads inside the sub-forum would give a quick clue about items for sale.

I think it's good idea.
best,
Mike

FWIW - I would just like to add that I am thankful that there is a thread :)

It is a great outlet provided to us, and if it never changes ... its still a great outlet :)
