A little sad tale with a happy ending...

A rather depressing thing happened to me yesterday:

My local music store located in central Va recently became an EBMM dealer (EBMM's are hard to find in central Va). Last November 2010 they me told they had ordered an SM-Y2d in Purple Sunset and were expecting it sometime in January...so naturally I made daily trips to the store in January to check and see if the guitar had arrived b/c I was dying to see one if person and well, to purchase it:D

Anyway I left town for 10 days to visit my family out west and came back Sunday night. As soon as Monday came around I headed to the music store and right to their "platinum room" (not GC btw) passing right by the sales manager talking to a customer about EBMM. I listened to their conversation (for any discrepancies;)) as I scanned the wall for the SM-Y2D which sadly was not there.

As I left the room I asked the sales manager if the "Morse" had come in and he said, "you wouldn't believe it but I just sold it to this gentleman right here and he was asking me about the guitar and the company. My heart sank:(

The sales manager then told the customer that I come in all the time looking for EBMM's and I could probably tell him more about EBMM than he could so I proceeded to educate the guy on what he had just purchased, and a little bit about the history of EBMM (based on my 1 1/2 yrs as a forumite and research)and my experience's as an owner of JP6.

The customer felt much better with his purchase and the sales manager told me that I should start working at the store!:cool::cool ...although I dont think it was a formal offer.

Anyway we talked guitars for a couple more minutes and he ended up telling me that he decided to check out this guitar and was so impressed with the tones that he decided to trade in his G&L.

Before I left I told him to check out the website and to join the forum ASAP b/c we're such a "tight-knit" community over here;)

Although I was disappointed the SM-Y2D had been sold to someone else, I was still glad to see some satisfaction on the guys face as I left the store, into the sunset, empty-handed...

Anyway I thought I would share my little story:)

Ah nuts. Well at least it went to a good home, and kudos to you for being so cool as to give the new owner a bit of a history lesson.

Hopefully there'll be another one on the horizon for you :)

sorry to hear that you didn't get it but so glad you were able to shed some light on the purchase. Hopefully we'll see it show up here on the forum.

Best wishes on landing a SM...

Pretty cool story even though you did not end up with the Y2D. It took me a LONG time before I got my Y2D last year...I always held off and got other guitars even though I fell in love with it when it first came out...plus being a HUGE Morse fan. Funny thing is I bought a LUKE for my birthday which I special ordered and waited almost 5 months...a bit over a month of owning it I saw Steve Morse Band perform in NYC and ended up trading in the LUKE for a KILLER Y2D from DuBaldo. I dont regret it at all, since it really is such a perfect guitar for me. Anyway, you'll have one soon enough...why dont you look for some that dealers have in stock...since you already know you want the guitar. I've seen a few online. Good luck.

Im glad you guys enjoyed the story!

On a side note: I have been applying for nursing jobs in the Richmond Va. area and I was offered one today so now I will have to look into relocating to Richmond in the near future. Id guess the money I didn't spend on the Morse will provide a bit of a cushion for apt hunting and what not. I will be making more money with this new job so I definitely see an SM-Y2D in my possession before too long!!!:D

It was nice to finally see one in person though. For sure.

That sounds like a situation i would have traded phone numbers with the other guy in case he didn't bond with it

Ha! Ha! You know I told him if he wasn't bonding with it then I would be more than happy to take it off his hands but I didn't think to give him my number. Ugh!

SOunds like it all has worked out!

It sure did BP. By the way I told the guy to check out that video tour/interview of the building process that you gave premier guitar recently and to really check out the site. I think and your crew have done an excellent job with the forum and FAQ's pages. I have really learned a great deal about your company and my JP6 b/c of the website!

Good things come to people who have a positive outlook and a positive attitude. You have both. Best wishes and I am sure that your dream EBMM (or EBMMs) will be yours soon.

Brophs that was very cool of you and good Karma should be in the near future, also says a lot about the good people of VA. The NY version probably would of played out with me telling the guy not to be fooled by the wicked finish, and how he would be crazy to trade in that G&L, and then five minutes later seeing the shocked look on his face as he watched me walk out the door with it. Lol just joking guys.
