I have an older Axis Sport (98) and it has the silent circuit on the MM90s. But as Rob's said ... all that means is that it wasn't "Albert Approved" until 2001.

My pinkburst didn't have the SS ... so I put a used one in there

silent circuit questions

Hello!
New forum member..... old EB/MM guy here. Just picked up an Albert Lee and was wondering how long the battery in the silent circuit lasts? Does leaving the guitar cable plugged in drain the battery or is the circuit engaged all the time? Thanks for your patience......

Uncertainty of battery life/condition is one of the reasons I stopped using it, or only using it in problematic situations. It seemed batteries were wearing down awfully quickly (2-3 weeks maybe), especially if I left the cable in. I also think it takes a slight edge off the tone. One thing which has helped with hum is plugging my amp into a power conditioner. In fact, that's about the time I took the batteries out of my Balls.

I was checking my Silo Spec (HSS) earlier, I have to say that I didn't notice a difference with or without the battery. There is always a hum due to old wiring in my house.

The position with the neck pickup still hums with or without the battery. The position with the neck and middle pickup is the quietest of them all.

Do you think there may be something wrong with my Silent Circuit?
