Silent circuit battery compartment

I have a silhouette special and went to replace the 9V battery for the silent circuit.
The battery will go in either way round and I can't see any markings to indicate the correct way. Does anyone know the correct way for the battery to go in ? Does it even matter?

Hi crunchy,
welcome to the forum. If I remember correctly there must be at least a "+" sign on the top of the lid.
Have a closer look.
