Hi,

I've got an Axis SS MM90 w/ Piezo, would like to know more about the silent circuit.

Right now, when i play the P90s by themselves, i can still hear some hiss and noise, especially under hi gain. Is that normal? There's a pot in the control cavity (blue and black thingy). What does it do, is that some sort of control for the silent circuit? Do i need to adjust anything to take care of the noise?

Thanks.

That is yer dummy coil/ss. Check your battery. You may have a ground issue. Always use quality cords such as Bill Lawrence/George Ls'.

Hi ebb soul,

Thanks for the reply. What does pot do anyway? Does it increase the power of the dummy coil? Or like a noise gate kind of a thing? I'm a little afraid to mess with it.

Not shure I follow. Your pots[with the knobs] fuction the same as on any guitar. The round thingy inside IS the SC. My best guess is it eats eddy currents. It basically functions similar to Fenders' old dummy coil of the 80s'. I found a patent search very helpful.
I use Lawrence noiseless p'ups so I didn't need the SC.
Dennis helped me figure out what wire does what so I could borrow it for split humbucker mode only. I don't know what I did with that info since, but it involved moving some wires on the switch.
