Silent or Noisy Single Coils

Just got a new red Luke 4 with three single coils. My neck single coil pickup does have hum noise. Are they supposed to be silent? I was playing through a preset on my positive grid spark GO and it was just like a boosted fender type tone. Does the preamp boost come stock with 12 or 20dB? And yes it’s a bit noisy/humming without the preamp boost engaged.

Not sure about how the tech’s evolved, if at all, for the L4 but as I understand it EBMM single coil guitars employ a ‘silent circuit’ which is basically a dummy coil, they’re not noise canceling pickups/single coil sized humbuckers. As such, a dummy coil which works in tandem with a pickup’s resistance is seldom 100% silent with all pickups due to variations in resistance in different pickup positions. It’ll reduce hum significantly, almost completely in some cases, but completely in all cases. If I’m not mistaken the silent circuit can also be tuned via trim pot.
