hi.

just registered at eb!
i'm an amateur guitarist from finland (been playing for 16 or so years). i played classical cello as a youth but switched to guitar in my teens. my technique is not outstanding but i have an understanding of pitch and tone, intonation, playability and so on. this brings me to music man guitars. i swear by them having only played a friends 2001 silh special and now the instrument i have acquired.

i've recently bought a second hand 20th anniversary silhouette with tremolo and maple fretboard. i am interested to know how many of these were made. my guitar is in mint condition(the previous owner hardly had played with it) and it definitely needs some playing to come alive! i paid euro 1200,00 for it. a good price?
i would like to hear from anyone who knows more about this beauty..

sorry the quality of photos is ****e, took with cellphone camera.. but true, she is a beauty. i find more time to play these days!(i work fulltime as a chef, have two kids and practice judo..time is very very short), a good instrument motivates one to practice. what do yo mean by date of birth?

Welcome aboard and congrats on the 20th Anniversary Silo, they're fantastic guitars!

my guitar is in mint condition(the previous owner hardly had played with it) and it definitely needs some playing to come alive! i paid euro 1200,00 for it. a good price?

That's a steal for a mint 20th Anni here in Europe! I'd take one at this rate any day :)

i am interested to know how many of these were made.
There were fewer than 400 of them made.

Eilif is right, there were very few made as it was only available for one year.
Altogether, 366 guitar were made, yours (with vintage trem) happens to be one of 172.

You can read up all the info here:

Hey laaksojussi, congrats on the 20th and welcome to the forum.

The 20ths are very special guitars. They are a real milestone for EBMM. Brilliant pieces, and your's is particularily tasty. You got a great deal on a superb instrument. I've got one with a flame top and vintage trem as well. They just ooze quality and tone.

Congratulations

1200€ is a good price (on the French second hand market, there is one Silo 20th, but the price is 1500 €).

hello there and thank you for your help. the more i play the instrument the more i seem to appreciate it. also i am now even more intrigued about this model. a question; is it possible to find out how many of the 172 tremolo models were with maple fingerboard.
and also any ideas on what gage strings suit the 20th the best. i have a set of 10s now, i tend to tune down half a step for certain(dirty rock and blues) style of playing.

just checking if my profile got updated

Don't forget to update your personal fields (like location for instance, thus everybody will see that you comes from Finland. It is sometimes useful to know if the guy lives next door to you or on the other side of the planet).
OK, most of the US guys do not know where Finland is located, but there are a few Europeans here !
