Hi, I own a Silo special Hss but I also like dual humbucker guitars.
Searching for an AL HH, five way switching looks very smart.
Are Silo and AL necks different?
No plan for a Silo HH with five way switching?
Another option would be a Silhouette. They come with dual hummers and a single thrown in for fun... Can also easily be configured as HH with a new pickguard.
I have a Silo Special and an older AL. The AL neck is just a bit deeper, front to back. The nut widths feel the same, and they play pretty close. Having said that, the Silo overall is more comfortable and lighter. Neither are asymmetrical, as far as I know. I've played an Axis, and the asymmetry is noticeable on those.
We had a thread on here back in 2008 initiated by Spud, and in the thread were neck profiles of all the balls, and the silo and silo spec were asymmetrical. Also confirmed by this link Ernie Ball Music Man Silhouette Special - www.12fret.com
here is the thread from 2008 but the pictures in the thread appear to be gone.. sad loss...
Music Man website: The Silhouette Special also features a comfortable "C' shape maple neck with 22 frets, and Axis: The Axis asymmetric hard rock maple neck allows for comfortable hand positions across all 22 frets....
I don't doubt you at all - I just had never heard of it referred that way. My Silo neck feels quite different than my Axis neck and I don't notice the asymmetric shape. That's all.
