I did a search, but I couldn't find anything relevant.

What is the problem with having a single coil in the neck of a 24 fret guitar? Why did they swap it out for a humbucker? How are the two options sonically different? How and how well do the neck and middle coils play together in position 4? Who is your daddy, and what does he do?

If you couldn't tell, I like to tinker.

Thanks

Noting wrong with a neck single coil in 24 fret guitar. Doesn;t sound quite the same as the neck single in a 22 fret guitar (which would be directly under the 24 th fret harmonic position) but the difference is not huge. Johnny Hiland loves singles in his 24 fret Silhouettes and it sound great. HSS Silhouette eventually became the 22 fret Silhouette Special and the Silhouette stayed HSH.

EBMM came out with the 22-fret Silhouette Special in 1995 or 1996. Not putting words into EBMM's mouth but I suspect that after the Silo Special was out for a while EBMM just didn't get the orders for the HSS or SSS 24-fret Silhouettes any more, and they probably got more orders for HSH than they did HH so the HSH version lived on while the other options were dropped.
