I have always wondered how many people out there prefer the SilSpecial to the Silhouette.

No fence sitters allowed, I am policing the fence and it will be considered trespassing!

Please leave your reasons if you can!

You can get an HSS pickguard for a regular Silo. Not sure if EBMM will offer it loaded or you'll have to go third party, but it was a factory option before the SS appeared.

As for me, I've never played a Special. I'm always going back and forth between deciding if I need the 2 extra frets or if I could do without them. Right now I think I'd be fine with 22 frets... but I love my neck humbucker, so it's Silhouette for me.

Personally I think there's many choices available for a HSH 24 fretters by other made out there, and the Silo may not stand out. This is on the looks department only since tone is individually one's own.

But the Special really looks cool and versatile in sound. Just look at the HSS/SSS guard swopability. ;)

Tough call as they are different beasts, but I went with the Silo. I always have at least one on stage (and used in the gig), but only occasionally have the Silo Specials out. In my case, I think the HSH wins out over the SSS or SSH of the Specials....

Where is the 20th option?

I really love all three versions including the 20th. If I had to pick one though, it would be the 20th.

I had a Burnt Apple SSH Silhouette Special at one time, and it I just couldn't get it dialed in to the sound I was after. Lovely finish.

I sold it and purchased a white 6-bolt HSH Silo with maple neck (now named Whitey) and I loved it so much I bought a dark red 6-bolt HSH Silo with rosewood fingerboard (now named Carmine) to use as a test bed for different pickup combinations. Whitey is dead stock, Carmine has been returned to stock except for a S-D/Fender Pearly Gates Plus pickup for the bridge humbucker. I have a gig on Saturday, and I'm still trying to decide which one I'm going to play. I like Whitey's neck better, but I like Carmine's pickups better.

The HSH pickup combination is so versatile. I thought I was a "humbucker guy" but found my self using that center single coil more and more for it's lovely clear sound. The notch positions are great as well.

I recently purchased a black burst Albert Lee. I absolutely love that neck profile, but I'm having a hard time getting used to the sound after playing the Silos. Albert is definitely a keeper!

I'd choose an SS because for that type of vibe, I'd want to use it as a St^at.

Can anyone remember when EBMM used to offer 'Modules' on the Silhouette?

Maybe BP could shed some light why these were discontinued?

At the Bash, I was talking about installing a dimarzio hot rail into my AL because I can't get away with the bridge single coil.
Sacrelige was the general concensus.
Anyway I won't have to when the Big Poppa AL comes along w00t!

Silo, because it's a bit different from the usual stuff, because it's got a neck HB - and because I already have a custom made Strat, so a Silo would be less... mainstream (in lack of a better term).

A neck humbucker is a must and 24 frets makes the math easy for me.

I always wanted a 24 fret guitar so Silhouette. Oh...but I bought myself (for me and my son) a short scale, semi-hollow 24 fretter.....so.... Silo Spec. Oh, but I'd really need to hear the sound of both because the neck pickup isn't in the same tonal location.

Oh, crap....I'm sitting on Shaun's fence and here he comes and I hope that double barrel only has rock salt......gotta run.....you guys decide which side of the fence I jump down from.....
