Hi all,
I just recently purchased a Silhouette standard, the stock pickups are great
but I want something hotter and louder.
I'm considering installing Dimarzio crunch lab(bridge), the cruiser(middle), and a Paf Pro for the
neck... Or... an Evo2 in the bridge (instead of crunch lab).

Has anyone tried or have something similar to this pickup combo?

I'm a big fan of the chopper in the neck position. Bold and hot for sure. As for the bridge, you can't go wrong with the crunch lab. Even the transition is an awesome bridge choice. I'd be torn between those two in almost any guitar.

Most humbucking guitars have 500k in them, most single coil have 250k. I'm uncertain about an hss configuration. changing to a 500k pot was the ticket for the sound I was after compared to the stock 250k which was originally in it.

I've probably stated this too many times already, but I just installed a Suhr DSH+ in the bridge, and Dimarzio Air Norton in the neck of my silhouette special. Sounds great.

Hi Neal,

The evo 2 would be my choice out of what you mentioned. I put a Gravity Storm in my Albert Lee, and I really like it. It's great for the type of music I play. I only play Van Halen, with the occasional Joe Satriani (Chickenfoot) or Steve Vai song. I am a one-trick pony; not a well-rounded player at all. What type of music do you play?

500k pots is a start. I love the stock neck humbucker on mine. I wouldn't change it for the world. I threw in a Seymour Duncan SH-5 (supposed to be their hot PAF style pup) into the bridge to sup-up the stock PAF pro. I liked the sound of the standard pickup, but I just wanted more juice. I love the sound of the guitar. Definitely my numero uno.

Hey Tollie,
I play a bit of amix, probably more metal to heavy rock with the occasional jazz line thrown in. Originally I thought of the Evo2 as I like vai's lead tone but I do need something with a bit more output for the heavy percussive stuff.

I'd like to hear you play as I am a fan of all those artists that you mentioned.

I am getting an Evo 1 in my PDN Steve Morse! The SH-5 in mine is totally snagging me that Scorpions 80's Rock You Like A Hurricane tone, if that is something you are looking for.

I run a evo2 injector neck ( in middle ) and evolution in the neck. 500k pots and a 0.22 Mf capacitor with a tonebuster super 5 way. Best pickup combination I ever played through
