I'm a bass player, for the most part, but I have my six string tendencies. So I look around here and try and pick up what knowledge I can. Being an EB/MM fan I've looked through the product line and decided that if I was to get a guitar from EB/MM, it would definatly be a Silhouette. I'm thinking white finish, HSH, Rosewood Fretboard with matching headstock, and since I might as well load it up a tremolo bridge with Piezo's. I think it would be a great guitar, but I have a few questions about how the pickups are wired and what I could to do make it the way I want it.
1. It has the silent circuit, correct?
2. What is the purpose for the selector positions 2 and 4?
3. Is there anyway to wire it so that there would be a switch to allow all three pickups run at the same time, or at least both humbuckers?
4. Would the single coil cause an out-of-phase sound if you were to use all three pickups at the same time?

That's all I can think of for now. Thanks for your help.

1. I have a HSH Silhouette - No silent circuit since it´s not needed in that config, all positions are noiseless.
2. Pos 2 = Single Coil + Splitted Bridge HB
Pos 4 = " + " Neck HB

3. Add a Push pull Pot instead of the tone knob to switch for exampl. the bridge and neck HB parallel to position 3 of the 5 way selector and you´re there

4.No

Glad to help ya , I don´t think you will use the all PUP combination a lot.
But give it a try.
This is a great guitar man, you will be happy.

All the best

Thank you. Mick, you said what coils are used in pos. 4 and 2. I already knew what they were(not to sound like a smart ass or anything) but what I meant wit hthat question is, what do they sound like, and what type of enviornment would you use that in? Now that I think about it, I wouldnt really care to have all three pickups going at the same time, but both humbuckers would be good. Thanks for the help.

Well I dabble in both instruments, and suck equally at both, but I cant seem to be able to find "home" on either one. I think the silhouette bass may be for me.

The 2 & 4 positions ("out-of-phase" positions) sound like the quacky sounds on a strat. Good for clean, funky or plucky sounds. (A good example of this sound would be Mark Knopfler on any Dire Straits album, etc.)
