Hey kids. Any idea what kind of output the pickups in the Silhouette Special have? Are they low? Medium? High? I really don't know the technical mumbo jumbo behind this, so figured it was best to ask.

The humbuckers are Virtual PAFs (or used to be), which makes them LOW output humbuckers. But the single coils I think are Blue Velvet pups... Check them out on DiMarzio.com

By no means am I questioning the sound... I just ordered my second Silo Spec yesterday so they have to be doing something right. I was just curious about some technical aspects is all.

I can't wait for my LE08 SSS!

I for one cannot stand the stock single coils... The humbucker is fine, if a bit harsh. But those single coils for me are a no no... My LE08 is more for my son, since he's born in 2008. I'm quite sure I'll keep playing my white one after the LE08 arrives... Perhaps I'll get another SS with HSS configuration... Pearl white maybe?:D

What about them don't you like? I think they're great, so I'm curious about what turns you off about them.

I like my single coils to have lots of transparency, openness and bell tone. Those Dimarzio ones are a little too tight and focussed for my liking. A bit too trebly... I want squishiness and rubber tone...:D If that makes any sense...:p

My pups of choice are the Fender CS69s. If you've heard those, you'll know what I mean.

But this is a matter of personal preference. The stock pups work for Robelinda... Just not for me...;)

The singles work great for me, love 'em clean or dirty - but I prefer the DiMarzio Breed HB at the bridge, on the HSS.
