Hey,

All you guys with Silo Spec. SSS-guitars. How does the bridge pickup handling lead tones? As I've stated in some earlier threads, I'm thinking of buying a SS for funk and occasional rock lead tones. Right now I'm leaning over to the SSS config. Especially after seeing this clip:

I really like that tone, and I noticed that it's indeed the bridge single coil pickup in action!

Any input on the subject would be highly appreciated, let alone more concrete sound/video examples!

(Btw, does this guy hang around the forum?)

Yes, Luke is actually "Lucious" on the forums...

Anyways, for Silo Spec lead tones, look no further than here: SoundClick - Free MP3 music download and much, much more.

The clip is sort of hard to tell what is the guitar's tone and what is coming from the CD. I wouldn't use that clip as a basis of what that guitar will sound like.

I've not gigged with a SSS before but done 100s of gigs with my HSS Silo at side (Haha alas not playing originals :( But covers pays the bills  )

I have found my HSS silo suitable all styles of music and played (tried to  ) plenty of funky stuff... When it comes to kick it up for a solo or rockier stuff my HSS has handled it just fine, but i (personally) wouldn't be confident in a SSS being versatile enough for what i do - I've got no doubt you could, but i probably prefer a little extra gain than not enough - you can always back off the volume a tad to clear it up or select part middle/part bridge.

When i saw JK in concert his axeman was on a silo SSS and it sounded just superb - But he wasn't expected to bust out any epic squeals... Haha he could have because he shreds but i suppose i'm trying to say, for me, the tonal possibilities i require, and all round ease.....i need a HSS.

But really does depend on you, your rig and your idea of 'tone'...
Haha anyone who's anygood will tell you it's all in the fingers anyway, i agree, but you get a slight advantage with 'the right' Ball in your hand.

Let us know how you go!?

Goodluck
