Depends on your needs. I've never played a silo but it's obvious from the reviews on this board alone that it plays and sounds great. However, the Pet has the special Dimarzios that only come on that model. I think you should get both.

I have a Silhouete special and i love it. Perfect for classic rock and stuff. Next on my list is a Pettruci. :D I think they are two different beasts all together. Like kud said, it depends on your needs. Classic rock type i would go with the Silo first. For heavier stuff i would go for the Petro first........ naaaaaaaaa just ;) get both

I haven't played a Pet,But i think all EBMM gutars/Basses are made to the same high standards(with the exeption of sub i think).

So "Better" comes down to your preference of Neck ,pups etc

A Petrucci is sorta a super hotrodded Silo....as for a comparison shootout....I'll let you know in a few months as I have a Silo currently on order...and my others are JPs.

I have 3 JP's and they are all great. It is really hard to compare any EBMM to each other as they are all great guitars. Most are signature models that are set up what an artist wants. I like the look, sound and definitely the feel of a Petrucci. I say, sit down with each one and play them for as long as you possibly can at the music store. Then decide. The one for you will jump out at you and you will know instantly which one you will buy...good luck!

I've already got a silhouette in a Sparkling Gold with an albone pick guard, customized with EMG pickups and Whammy bar autographed by Les Paul, I'll try to post a picture, but i think im gonna spring for a JP and just keep it in C standard for Maximum shred capacity :D

The petrucci has a floating bridge which I dont like, plus I like to alternate tune a bit like a quick drop D here and there and then back to standard on stage, so the Silo was the guitar for me, I swapped out the pups and it sounds great, also the petrucci has a wider and thinner neck, so you really need to go play them both and see, different feels altogehter but I went with the silo to compliment my axis SS -

Orange thats a cool device, that would actually make the petrucci more usable to me, hey if I had the cash I would have a pet and just keep it in the tuning I like and have the bridge float but I needed something on stage that I could easily change tunings and beat the crap out of and when GC was blowing them out in commack I got my SS for 600 bucks brand new, it was a deal I could not refuse since I had wanted one for the longest time, it wa the best guitar purchase I have made to date -
