Hey! I'm new to this forum; looks good. Bought a very nice second hand Silhouette today - I'm in love!! :)
A few questions to you pro's; the serialnumber is 95160. Can anyone date my guitar?
Also; it has a two humbucker config. Probably DiMarzios; but what type?
I would love to have a single coil als in the mid; routing is already there. What kind/type of sc would you suggest? And where can I get a wiringscheme to get the basic wiring of a H-S-H Silhouette.
I would very much apreciate your answers; thanx in advance!

Luigi, welcome. Post a new thread with the Title "DOB Info please". Only the people who work at EBMM can do that and they do that when they have a free minute.

Let's see some pictures!!

Best of luck, Glenn |B)

Unless they've been swapped out by a previous owner, the pickups in that Silhouette should be a pair of Dimarzio PAF Pro's...

Oh, and welcome to the club! :D

Whoa! Looks like you got one of the old Morse Blueburst Silhouettes. They didn't do that for too long. Pretty rare, too.

Nice instrument. Very nice.

The color Morse Blueburst is only available on the Steve Morse model. At one time, for just a few years, Morse Blueburst was also available on other models. I've only seen one other EBMM in Morse Blueburst that wasn't a Steve Morse model. It just happened to be a Silhouette as well, with a black pickguard. I don't know how many they made like this, but they haven't done it for a long time, I believe since the early or mid 90s.

Wow, I love that colour.

BTW: if your Sil is old enough , I remember at one time you could just switch scratch plates for a different pick-up configuration , you might want to contact EBMM for a scratch plate with the middle pick-up config.

Ciao, Luigi!

The DiMarzio HS-2 (a stacked humbucker used wired for single-coil operation in the HSH configuration) is the one you're looking for - it works really well as a middle pickup between two regular humbuckers. If you can't easily find an HS-2, some of their newer low-to-middle power Virtual Vintage models might work too, but I'd suggest going with their Virtual2 line since those are designed for use with the 250k pots your Silo likely has, and the regular Virtual Vintage stuff is designed for 500k pots.

Look on the DiMarzio website or elsewhere online for an Ibanez JEM wiring schematic - the older Silos supposedly used the same pickups (but with 500k pots and matched capacitors). I'm not sure if the EBMM switch wiring layout is the same as the Ibanez one or not, but I don't think it would be very different.

Good luck!
