just bought me a silo bari tuned a-a because i liked the colour and wanted it now!! on the understanding from musicman that i could convert it over to a bass e-e. All i would have to do is adjust the truss and saddles slightly and also maybe file away some of the nut on the e. Well this was ok but now i have hit a main wall with the low e tuning peg hole not being big enough to accept the low e string from the shortscale bass set!!! Cant believe that the tunning peg would be different between the a-a and e-e models...surely ernie ball should install the larger holled peg because going from a-a to e-e must be a common thing to do with this model.
are those identical tuners available elsewhere ..maybe i could get one with a larger hole.
or maybe ernie ball could send me one ...problem is they have this no mods policy which might even mean that they wouldnt want to see a silo bass going from a-a to e-e......if this is the case then i wish they would have mentioned this tuning peg difference earlier so that i would have tried to find an e-e model instead.
any ideas guys...maybe somone from the eb tech dept could make a suggestion.
cheers...andy
