no, not at all. tnt and shane are just saying that they don't use neck buckers at all. i was saying that for me, the neck bucker gives me all the fat thick creamy "soulful" sounds that i like - and the bridge bucker is more "ballsy".

Oh. OK, I thought I had gone 10 years reffering to the neck pickup with the wrong term... LOL

So do they use neck single coils or just never use that pickup???

well man, if i had to take a total guess here...i would probably guess that shane doesn't use a neck pickup at all.
but i'm just guessing and i can't really speak for him.

Haha, yeah that silo is my "super strat".

I actually use it all the time on my JP and Les paul though :D

As Luv said, I just posted as a joke, earlier. Disregard me and all will be well.

I'm out of it today...

no worries my man....i was being a little fecicous. i don't know shane or his playing habits...but was just saying that since his SS doesn't have a neck pickup, he probably doesn't use one. i didn't know if maybe the picture links weren't working on your pc or if you just didn't look at the picture or what.....but no harm intended....

hope everyone has a good holiday weekend!

There was a pic posted? I am on my work computer and half of the pics are blocked. I'll have to check it out when I get home.

That probably explains the confusion. In my post where I said his guess was as good as mine, I also have a pic of my Silo Special, which is set up Eddie style with one pickup.

ah, indeed! now i know why you would ask the ?'s you did. take the pics out of the equation and everything changes. funny. insert the pics back into the equation and hopefully you will find some humor in there.

this place makes me laugh.....that's one reason why i like it here.

back on topic...hopefully you are figuring out that neck pickup...i'm truly a huge fan of the neck pickup in general (singles or hums)...it just gives me the sound that i want to hear from a guitar most of the time. i watched gilmour live in hd last night and he was in the neck position almost all of the time (from what i could see).... sounded so good!

but, that bridge is there for a reason...

Everything makes more sence now that I'm home and I can see the pics!

Yeah man, I'm still having trouble with the tone from the neck humbucker. Turning the volume on the guitar down to about 7 is helping though.

It took me a long time to get the neck PU on my JP sounding the way I wanted, I suspect because I wasn't used to 24 fret guitars. What finally did it for me was screwing the polepieces down a lot lower than I had been keeping them. Might be worth a shot, and easier on the silo (where you can just adjust the whole pickup). It really opened up the sound and smoothed things out.

So I should move the pickup away from the strings more? Don't I just loosen the two screws to lower the pickup?

I wouldn't use the word "should", what works for me may not be universal. The neck PU in my JP is a bit hotter than the silo pickups, so it may not work as well- but it may be worth a shot. You would indeed just loosen the screws to lower the pickup.
