I emailed customer service. But, figured I'd give it a shot here too. Bought a silo spec HSS over the weekend on clearance at GC. $999! I'll do a proper NGD when I get some time. Part of the reason for clearance was it has a broken 5-way switch. It works, just doesn't lock into positions well. Someone must have banged the switch. Is this a regular off the shelf 5-way blade? I don't want to crack the guitar open until I have switch in hand or I'd check myself.

the switch is the only weak point of the silo spec...well, not so much weak as it is less heavy duty than what you'd get on a stock USA fender strat. But, yeah, the switching on a silo spec is completely different than a strat, so don't just throw any switch in there.

There's an upgraded version of the 5 way switch on the silo special. Call AJ in customer service with your serial# and se if yours has been updated. Mine wasn't; is now.

In all my years on this forum, that's the first time I've heard this and I don't recall a rash of Silhouette Special owners with problem switches.
My silo switch works fine...just comparing them side by side, the metal blade on my strat is noticeably thicker and the electronics underneath the PG look less plasticy. However, the silo is a way better guitar, overall.
