Being the impatient bastard that I am, I can't wait for my EBMM Petrucci 7 to arrive(mid Jauary) so I was checking out the Petrucci's at the local store today, especially the red Limited one(JP6LE). Also, for a couple of weeks now I have been planning the EBMM I want to get after my 7 gets here. What I want is a Silhouette Special in white with a matching headstock and a rosewood fretboard.
It would look just like this:

EBMM_Silo2.jpg

And guess what... the local store just happens to be getting one in next week! The only difference from the one I had originally planned is that the one coming next week has the piezo bridge. Pretty cool. The Petrucci doesn't have the piezo option.

So anyway, what are your opinions? The above Silhouette Special or the JP6LE?
I'd love the Silo w/ the piezo but I also love the JP6LE(The color is very, very sweet!)
Oh yeah, they are basically the same price.

p.s. Just today, they got in the limited edition JP6 in Envy Green.

BucketBot, man that's a tough call!! I have a Silhouette Special and it's pretty awesome, I'm not a JP owner, but everyone that has 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or more swear by them. I think it would be pretty cool to have an EBMM with a Piezo, someday myself.

The Envy Greens seem to be popping up here and there. I saw a place that has an Albert Lee in Envy Green, I didn't see the guitar, but I was thinking about inquiring about some pictures.

Best of luck, Glenn |B)

Envy seems way more green in person. Those pics give it sort of a bluish tint.

Btw, the girlfriend told me to go with the white Silo.

With respect to the "in person color" the best way I can describe it is a bright British racing green. I guess it depends on the lighting/camera/monitor when the picture was taken or is being viewed on.

It's shiny, but not sparkley - the color came out after the sparkly ones were discontinued. Unless of course you can find the rare Burnt Little Green Apple Envy  :p

Who needs pants anyway. :p
One of the finer qualities of my girlfriend. She knows that guitars make me happy so she never stands in the way. Hell... for x-mas a couple of years ago she bought me a Brian Moore and a Roland GR-33 to go with it!

Also, when I head back to the music store I'll take my digital camera and snap a pic of the envy green JP.

Btw... this is the guitar that got me hooked on EBMM!(speaking of 'sparkley green'):

EBMM.jpg

It was used but extremely mint condition for $700 and I passed on it.
stupid, stupid, stupid...

as much as I love the jp I'd say, if you don't mind the neck differences, go with the silo for a different set of tones and the beauty of it. I love silos, myself, except the necks are tiny...that's been my problem with the evh's and axis's I have. the neck is very beefy but not very wide, and I have big hands. if only the jp had more beef in the neck it'd be perfect. :)

for session work I don't mind the changes, because guitar switches aren't sudden. with live work, I like to have the guitars feel the same, because it helps me for a smooth night...less time getting used to the different feel. these considerations might not even be for you, but if they are you might look at what your area is...live work, sessions, home enjoyment.

can't go wrong no matter which you choose. :D

Dameon,

The 24 fret Silos have a fatter neck than the JPs...I'm not too familiar with the Silo Specs tho. There may be a big difference.

Posted that pic for ya!

agreed..the silo has a fatter neck, but the huge difference I was gettin at was the width. the last silo I played wasn't as wide as the jp. if they've changed that I want a silo!

thanks for postin that pic, too. :)

On a side note... It should be here tomorow but my buddy at the store that does all the recieving of the electric guitars will be off tomorrow so it's looking like Friday. :(
Oh well, that'll give me more time to spend with my money before it all goes away.

Well, the guitar is here but there is some sad news. There are finish cracks in the neck joint. Otherwise, it would be here with me now. :( So they are going to hold on to it until Monday when they can get a hold of their guy at EBMM. The store wants to send it back to get refinished or see if they would be able to discount it or something. I told the store that I really don't care if it has the finish cracks since they will most likely develope anyway. But if they have to send it back I'll might either pick up the JP6LE or the Axis Super Sport in Blue Dawn, that I have become quite attached to lately(just to hold me over until the Silhouette is finished  ).
Anyone know how long a refinish takes with EBMM?
On another note, when I opened the case to take my first look at the guitar I was absolutely blown away! What a stunning guitar! Everyone in the store had to stop and take a look at it.
