I'm pretty much an all Axis player right now, but I'm starting to take a liking to the Silo shape. I also like the 3 single coil option. My question is: How does the Silo neck compare to the Axis neck? I can look at the numbers, but I would love actual testimony from people who have played both. Thanks

Rad, I find them very easy to switch between. I have a Silo Special, an Axis Sport and I had a Silo until tomorrow afternoon. The necks are very similar to my rookie hands.

Axis is chunkier......... more of a deep C shape.

Silo is a slimmer, shallower C Shape.

Both very comfy.

Both 10" Radii

Fretboard widths are identical widths at nut.

Silo Neck is 1.59mm wider at last fret (and has 2 extra frets).

Personally loving Silo at the moment....... but mainly for the Rosewood fretboard !

I have both and the axis is a bit chunkier and a bit more of a C shape, its very easy to go back and forth between the two, its like they are brothers - they just feel different, when I go from one to the other its sort of refreshing, definitely get a silo or silo special to round out your appetite -

My Axis Sport had an asymmetric shape, thicker by the thumb and thinner toward the high E. My Silo Specials have an even C shape, and are neither chunky nor skinny. I prefer and love the Silo shape.

As Candid said, the axis is somewhat asymmetrical, and is also a bit chunkier than the silo spec. Of the ASS AL's and Sil specs I've owned, the Special is the shallowest.

If your looking for single coils, the closest overall feel for the neck is the AL. The C is deeper than the Silo and closer to the axis but symmetrical through the length.

I had the axis and the AL prior to the Silo and felt less of a transition between those two than between either of them and the Silo, which took me a bit longer to get used to.

I wish I could just try them out. I'll keep an eye out. I'm not too keen on the AL shape (don't be hatin'), but I used to say that about the Silo too. Now I kind of like it.

Sir - do I sense another mission coming on ? Please PLEASE!!! ;)

OK so if a person has small hands what is THE neck to have - what EB would be recommended?

Oooops - slap my wrist for derailing this thread -I'm sorry!!

I have lovely small delicate artistic hands and Silhouette necks suit me fine

On the other end of the scale :

My hands span 275mm (10.8") from tip of thumb to little finger, so any neck feels pretty small to me.
(With such large hands I'm lucky to have long slim fingers for guitar)
I find the Silo neck really nice.

Does everyone on here talk like Yoda?? Off to apply some more hand cream now.

Just figured Jedi mind tricks would be the best way to convince a guy who dresses up in his own stormtrooper outfit to play an AL :p

feel the AL flow. Yes. Good. Calm, yes. Through the AL, things you will see. Other places. The future...the past. :)
