This summer holiday i'm gonna work my ass of so i might be able to buy a Silhouette. ;)

I'm a little confused about the differences between a Silhouette and a Silhouette Special. I know the silo features a 24fret neck and HSH pickup setup VS 22fret neck HSS setup that the special has.

Its a little weird for me because the Silhouette features "more" and costs less? Is there something else different about the Silo Special that makes it more expensive?

I'd love to get into details, but I think you'd be better served doing a search.
This subject has been covered many times. You'll find a tonne of info to get you informed!!! :)

How does the Silo feature more? And I didn't know they cost less than the Special. Maybe the Silent Circuit feature? But I would think that would be offset by the two extra frets cost. Maybe there's more demand for the Special?

Anyway, it's not that complicated to go into again. The Silo has deeper horn cutaways, different p'up configurations, 24 frets, and no Silent Circuit. Did I miss anything?

The way I see it, the silo is EBMM's go anywhere and do anything (really well). I too notice that silo specials seem to cost more, at least on the used market. It all depends on what you want really, I wanted a good rock guitar with 24 frets and a lot of sound possibilites, and the silo is as close to perfect as I've seen, and it's MUCH more than a rock guitar. I personally prefer the silo, but from what I can tell many more people here own silo specials.

For greater access to the two additional frets. The Silo appears longer to my eyes, but it's only the cutaway, and possibly the 2 frets that makes it appear so.

I've never played a Silo, but don't imagine they'd be very different. If two buckers and 24 frets was what I wanted, I'd have no problem at all playing a Silo. Since I prefer the HSS, I go with the SS. I use the single neck only pup a lot. About the only reason the 20th doesn't grab me.

Have you tried the 20th, though? If you have and if you've made your decision, fine. Just as an FYI, I think that the neck bucker on the 20th has an almost single-coil sound sometimes.

So many great guitars, how to choose?

This morning I was playing "blue", and after, I got to thinking - how many models does Luke, AL, JP or SM play? I think for some, when you find your guitar, that's it. It's like finding your soul mate.

I'd dig having other models, don't get me wrong; every guitar inspires in a different way. But I seriously doubt that any could ever make me smile like ole blue. It got started on a rocky road, and the EB folks stuck with me to make it right. Well, they not only made it right, they made it magical. Seriously magical. Can the 20th replace that? mmmm... would still like to find out, but I seriously doubt it.

Rob, as nice as my other silo is and plays, it only gets patronizing playing time from me. That's why I've even thought of letting it go from time to time, 'cept that you threatened to kick my ass if I sold it :D.

Which one guitar of yours have you really bonded with most? You have a truly awesome collection, but is there one particular one which is your voice?

good question! I dont think ive found THE ONE yet, but i'm workin on it, maybe it doesnt exist. I enjoy all of my balls, i probably have too many, but sometimes i cant resist a bargain! I'm primarily a single coil clean tone guy, I have a feeling an AL with SSS and rosewood and trem might be the ticket, we'll see in a few weeks! I really enjoy my Rosewood ASS and my Silo Special the most. They both play and sound exceptionally good. Out of the AL's, they are all great, but the MM90 Trans Orange AL is pretty awesome. Would love to get a Silo Special SSS w/trem one day too my gut feeling is the trem adds that nice touch to single coils.

I'd love to try a Silhouette one day, but the Special kicks serious ass. It's like everything you ever wanted out of your Strat but couldn't quite get.

Rob, enjoy 'em all, my friend. You do a whole lot more playing than I do: teaching, performing etc, so you need more tools. For me, these days, it's mainly sport and meditation. Don't have the need for more. But then, ya never know.

I hear what you're saying about a trem silo special. I too think it adds something special to the tone, as does the rosewood board.

Do I understand you have a rosewood board AL in the works? Standard pups or P90s?
