Aftermarket job...and no lock nut.

+1

You can see the cover for the vibrato springs - Kahlers don't work with springs, they have some kind of roller bearing system.

There are Schaller Locking heads though, like on the JP6 for instance, so there might be no need for a locking nut.

All in all it seems a bit pricey to me...

Lots of hype in the text and lots of photos, but it's just a recent Silo (note the neck plate isn't recessed so it's only a few years old) that someone modded with a Kahler. No limited edition here; just someone who evidently didn't like the EBMM Vintage Trem and slapped a Kahler flat-mount on the guitar.

Also there is some type of extra switch - a pushbutton right under the 5-way with no explanation what it is.

The neck has like, 0 birdseye whatsoever.
Lame :[

JP7 - Silos and Silo Specials don't get birdseye maple any more and haven't for a number of years - EBMM saves it for the signature models and the Axis models. Just another indication that the Silo on ebay is just a recent one modded.

My 2007 LE Silo Special (in my avatar) has pretty much a plain hard rock maple neck so they don't even use birdseye on the LEs.

It's probably from the 2000-2003 era. I think that color is Pearl Blue, a slightly older discontinued color. (I have a Silo Special in the same color).

the Kahler looks professionally installed, still probably an aftermarket job.

Aint no shame in a beautiful plain maple neck- it has its own charm!

Amen on that, birdseye is pretty but other than visual serves no purpose, the plain ole maple neck on the Dargie Silo Special i bought from Rob is one of the best playing necks I have ever had in my hands.:)

They should have done it with a hardtail silo.
There is some wood that has to be added to install a Kahler flatmount trem in a guitar with that style of trem routing.
Oh and Kahlers do use springs, just really small ones. They do not attach to the guitar body.
