Writing this far far from home (about 10'000km).... at a public internet access terminal in the Singapore Airport, while waiting for the connection flight to Manila. As of today our band's tour to the Philippines has started, and we're all something between overtired and overexcited :D

Naturally, I took along one of my StingRays, the 2006 Lava Pearl SR4 HS, in the MM SKB case checked in as oversized luggage  and the Minimark amp which was allowed as hand carry in the cabin. :) I watched the bass case vanish in on the carrier band at Zurich Airport with a very peculiar feeling in my guts...

I hope all our instruments and belongings will survive the travel safely!

If possible, I'll post some pics for evidence... :)

Wish us luck!

Happy transiting oli, right here from Singapore!

How do you like our airport? Bet you will like it even MORE if you can come out!

No worry - I think your basses will be safe. Good luck and all the best for your trip!:D

So... back home since yesterday... we made it out of a Manila with pure luck on sunday at noon, when the wind speed was very low... since we were delayed by 4 hours, we got to enjoy a bit more of Singapore (just a drive at sunset to a hotel, shower, dinner, drive back at nighttime... lovely skyline you got there Ripper!) and it's airport (I could get used to shop at the new terminal... ;))... from there we enjoyed the flight home with another four hour stop in Milano which allowed us to fancy some fine italian brewed java for breakfast.

Almost all of our luggage was fine, except that out of the 18 pieces we had, 5 were missing. Of those, 4 have showed up, with one still missing. Fortunately none of the valuable instruments!

Regarding instrument cases on flights:
The standard MusicMan SKB case held up really fine, although the casing has cracked at one of the corners -- generally great quality and design!
The Rockcase pedal board didn't do so well, although it looked much sturdier. It lost all of the rubber feet, had one metal corner ripped of and generally looks as if it had gone to hell and back. Gotta get me a replacement for that one. I'll probably give nycpedalboards.com a chance.

For the rest: I still try to get my head around all that happened during those very eventful 20 days... and I have to collect all the pics and vids that were made by bandmembers and friends. Most probably some of the vids will eventually show up on YouTube...

Have a longer stay here in Singapore if you have the chance! Friendly people, clean city, exotic asian food and great shopping! ;)
