If any knuckleheads currently reside in Singapore or will be there between 7-12 December and want to have a mini international forum bash, I'll be there playing 6 gigs with The Australian Rolling Stones Show, at Muddy Murphy's Irish pub on Orchard Road.

We play every night from 7 Dec to 11 Dec, as well as Sunday afternoon on 12 Dec.

I'll be the old fat guy in a wig playing a non-EBMM bass (short scale only permitted for this tribute band, unfortunately)

ive always been dying to ask THE official pretend Bill Wyman...when you guys record, does the official pretend keith richards redo all your bass parts without you knowing about it, or do you guys drop out of character now and then? come to think of it.... nevermind. i forgot that your oblivious about being erased from the multitrack master. sorry i brought it up... hey, hows that see thru bakelite bass sound in the studio? let me guess, j.w., the stones official AND pretend engineer (mick chumped him on points and he needed a gig) loved it huh? its been said, mostly by him, that he can make anything sound like a pbass. makes me wonder what he does to pbasses. certainly not nothing!

Nice gig Mark - congrats.

To be authentic the bass needs to be fretless and home made ;) that's what he used. But I think even Mr Wyman graduated to a Fender at some stage.

Given this thread is OT, it won't hurt for me to answer this in more detail :D

You're correct, his first bass was a home made fretless, then a Framus Star bass, briefly the Vox Wyman "signature" bass that he apparently hated, a Fender Mustang (1969 tour), the Dan Armstrong plexi, a Gibson EB-3 and a Steinberger (the only long scale bass he played live, I believe).

In this band, as an approximate nod to authenticity but not wanting to play a dog such as a Framus or Vox, I play a Gibson EB-3 reissue, Dan Armstrong plexi reissue, and an Epiphone Rivoli.

Congrats to you Aussie Mark for that cool gig. What's the story behind it? Or did they simply find your homepage?

Every December this venue brings a band from overseas for the peak season when a lot of expats from more remote parts of Asia spend time in Singapore for some R&R. Last year a buddy of ours went over there with his U2 tribute band, and this year the venue asked him if he could recommend another good Australian tribute band, and he put us forward to be considered. Fortunately they chose us :D

It is a good gig - airfares, hotel accommodation right next door to the venue, 2 meals per day, backline hire, plus a daily payment for each band member that works out at $180 each per day.

So far, yes ! The audio demos on our web page were recorded one night when I had a gig with another band. In this case the bass parts on the demo were recorded by our official pretend Mick Jagger, who is a versatile enough dude that he is an official pretend Angus Young in an AC/DC tribute band as well.

do you guys drop out of character now and then?

I do sometimes, my wife is only 9 years younger than me, and I met her when she was well out of her teens.

Our official pretend Keith Richards, on the other hand, does not drop out of character - what he wears on stage is what he wears all day, every day (his day job is teaching guitar). We think he is Keef's love child :D
