Well, I played the GP single H at last night's gig.

I felt sorry for the BC HH Bongo because the only time I picked it up last night was when I tuned it before the show.

The other thing I want to mention is that it will keep the Slinkys on it. The rest of the guys in the band really liked the sound of the round wounds. I used to play them all the time but changed over to flats about two years ago. I'm think I'm on the return trip now.

Anyway, the BongoH, as I'm calling it now, played and sounded like a dream. Our lead singer had a friend there that is a bass player and he sat in on a tune in the 3rd set so I got to sit out front and hear what it sounded like. WOW!!! What a great sound with the BongoH and the GK rig. Sits right in the mix and give plenty of bottom at the same time. From my perspective right in by the amp, I may like the sound of the flats a little better. But from out front, the sound of the round wounds sounds better to my ear. And out front is what it's all about anyway.

I think a lot of the flats vs. rounds thing comes down to how the thing is being played. Hell....I'm still thinking about how nice that OLP 5 string with flats sounded (though my fingers only recently stopped bleeding from the sharp fret ends).

It seems like more and more of the Bovinistas are drinking the single-H cool-aid these days. I can't blame ya. I may fall eventually, but the H/S is keeping me more than occupied these days.

My Candy Red Bongo 4H is shipping out from SLO to Dude this week, so I'm looking forward to having this in my small collection.

While I keep Flats on my P-Bass for Motown sets, I'm staying with Rounds for both my Ray and Bongo to cover everything else.
