These late 80s early 90s EBMM basses are so cool IMHO.
Back in the days of the 'Big Poppa's Ultimate Torture Thread' (remember those pre-Classic days of ultra GAS
) I remember Dargin said they were looking at the best of the pre-EB features (strings through body), combined with a slab body, along with the EBMM neck improvements (6 bolt v 4 bolt and wheel truss rod adjuster) - reminiscent of the early 90s EB - remember the debates over the chrome battery box cover as well??!! Search for the thread if you want to witness mass knucklehead GAS attack
I'd still love a late 80s EBMM in blueburst or peach though!!
Anyway for me they achieved it - I play my Classic virtually always these days - the other basses barely get a look in.
I did think that when i first saw the Classics, why no stripe ?
The only conclusion i could come to was that the Classic was the Classic an not a replica of pre-EBMM, so it combined old features with modern technology, (like the truss rod wheel, six bolt neck etc)
