Off Topic Slammed the Door on my Finger...

So this morning I was opening the music store that I work at and I somehow managed to jam my left middle finger in the door as I went to lock it behind me.

It's bruised so I don't think I will be able to play guitar for a few days.

What do you do musically when something prevents you from playing guitar?

You will never play again. I'll take that JP6.........I work with my hands often and when something happens I try to play what I can to keep things limber. Sometimes you learn different fingerings that you end up keeping and wonder, why you didn't do it that way before. Take it easy and do what you can, but don't push it.

I can still use my 1st, 3rd and 4th fingers so maybe I can develop my 4th fingers strength.

Don't give anyone the 'one finger salute'. If it is swollen, it will only look bigger and piss the other guy off more. Seriously, ice for swelling and don't over exert.

I hate to mention what I've been going thru since last year, not to belittle your injury, but I can relate to what you are saying very much. I couldn't even pick up my toothbrush for the first 2 months, and I still can barely tie my shoes.

Never the less, because I tried to "play" thru it, once I could hold my guitar, (even though without feeling), it helps. So try and play, just to keep the hands, ligaments, etc. . . limber and flexible, keep the fingers moving.
