Open fisted slapping or backhand slapping?
I prefer the Beavis method of combining the two

Conceptually slapping is not all that difficult, just bend the arm at the elbow, arch the wrist back and aim for the temple... If you mean on the bass, its not that hard either. Get an instuctionally video if you want to see someone else doing it. Then start with some easy slapping like Flea's stuff, and work your way up to Wooten and Mark King. Should take about 10 years to master it :)

If you have an EBMM, you certainly have the right bass for slapping -- they just beg to be slapped!

If you want to see a real slapping exhibition spend the nine bucks it'll set you back to own this gem: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000VLKX0/qid=1105153369/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-4147414-1098211?v=glance&s=dvd"]Amazon.com: Level 42 Live 2001 at Reading UK: Level 42: Movies & TV[/ame]

Slapping is straightend palm across the cheek. Mom's usually have that technique down better than dads who tend to do the knots upside the head thing much better than the slap technique.

ok, I think I understand the confusion... your mom used the front on slap with you and mine used the back hand with me... :) Well, the point is we both got slapped!

Actually it took the knots on the head approach my dad took to convince me. Mom could slap with the best of em however.
