The other day I blistered the end of my third finger, makes it a little painful to play. Thought I would take this opportunity to learn a little slide guitar. I know nothing about it and was looking for some suggestions about tuning, etc. I am all blues all the time, so something in that vein would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hello

I play slide with my Balls ...
I use a slide one my pinky and I play with standard tuning or drop D tuning.
The first thing you have to learn is how to play in tune. Try to play a little melody with the slide on your B, G and D strings between the 3rd and 12 frets. If you go higher on the neck, it's become tricky to play in tune. You will see that's it's not so easy :D
After finding how to place the slide in order to be in tune, you can start to play a blues in A.

Good luck

Not sure what you are after. In fact I pinched my finger in a pair of pliers. I didn't really think that was germane to what I was asking. Had I cut it on the table saw, I would have gladly provided pics.

germane ... ... wow that's a new word I have just learnt!!

I use a slide on my pinky too. - a glass one so don't get cutting yer finger.

Google Sonny Landreth and blow yer mind !!!

lol!!!

That's what I am after - humor!!:)

I figured you were testing me so I knew it was imperative (that ones for you Spud) that I come back strong. Thanks for the slide tips. It sure isn't as easy as one would think. Of course, I have no talent so that makes it especially hard. I learned of Sonny Landreth from Eric Claptons Crossroads concert. Another player that makes me realize I should just give up. He's good.

Yeah, if you can implement some viable mods on the guitar, it can facilitate your ability to sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide!! However, don't be too impetuous or you may be discourage.
