Here's a recent gig pic, taken the night before my band found out we'll be opening for Bad Company, Candlebox and Blue Oyster Cult on Aug. 1 at the Outlaw Jam in Maryland.

I've said it before here, but I no longer have any use for other guitars beyond this particular Axis. Although I've taken a backup (usually a Tele) to the past few months of gigs, I've yet to use it. I just love everything about the Axis -- the neck, the sound, the playability, the build quality, blah blah. I'm preachin' to the choir I know!

I remember when my axis looked as new as that.
Such an odd choice for a slide guitar with it havin a floyd though.
For a split second I thought that looked like JP on bass lol

i'll be honest... i've never thought about using a floyed equipped with a slide... but that's one beautiful guitar you've got there and congrats on landing the big gig... that should be a great show.

Same here. Me and Jaye laugh about the idea that our other guitars are wallflowers since we made the Axis transition ...

I'm pretty sure Jeffro busts out the slide to use with his Axis too. Despite the VH heritage...despite the floyd...despite having one volume knob only -- these guitars are incredibly versatile. Hell, my band plays redneck, southern rock covers only and my Axis sounds incredible and looks even better IMO. Besides, the "purists" just can't believe I don't use a Strat or a Les Paul, and it's fun to torque them up.

It's the lighting, they match in color. But it's is a relatively dark honeyburst. Here's a shot of her when she was on the wall at my local retailer ...

Hey Jisham - nice post and congrats on getting the gig with Bad Co, nice photo too and a great looking guitar.

I used to love playing slide, and my technique went towards the style of Sonny Landreth whereby I fret notes behind the slide as well as using the "fretted" slide note. - but since I now only play with my balls, my actions are set too low for this style.

I'm just going to have get me a cheapo guitar and set it up just for slide, because I don't want to raise the action on my balls.

Yeah, as Jeff pointed out, neither us really know what we're doing with our slide "techniques" -- I only use it on one song (ZZ Top's "Tush") and it's mostly for show to be honest. I'm like you though. If I was going to do it more, I'd use a different guitar with higher action as my Axis' action is low as well. And I'd try to learn how to play it properly. :D

Still a fantastic band live. Lots of YouTube clips with EBMM action on tour.

Richie Castellano is usually always seen with either an Axis, Silo Special or EVH.

Check out Buck "borrowing" Richie's Silo Special when the Cheeseberger battery fails at 2:08

Probably best take my mini hijack over to my old thread here

Really? Is that what I am doing wrong? Every time I tried it, it just doesn't sound right. It sounds like a lot of scraping metal on the frets.

I use a glass slide ( I make my own don't I Travs? ;)) on my pinky - leaving the other fingers available for fretting behind the slide. With a raised action, the note you fret (behind the slide) passes under the slide and rings true.

I haven't played much slide in the last 3 or 4 years and should really get back into it.

The Landreth song that intrigued me was Native Stepson (you'll find plenty of hits on youtube). My missus was going frantic 'cos that's all I played for a long time whilst trying to nail it. S'funny I picked up a guitar (my mates) the other week and realised how much I had forgotten - I better start annoying the missus again !!;)
