Hi . . . first time contributor.

I just purchased a set of Slinky Cobalts (10's) for my Fender Strat Ultra with Lace Sensors. I was recommended to these strings by a salesperson at my local Guitar Center in response to my concerns that my axe needs brighter strings with better response.

I was very excited, new unique strings for my favorite axe, but after stringing "Big Red" with the new Cobalts I was very disappointed with the results. I have very little sustain on these strings, unless I really pick or strum hard I get very little response.

Is this typical performance results? If so then I bought the wrong strings. If this is because I have Lace Sensors then the GC guy should have known better. Would appreciate input from those experienced with these strings (including anyone from Ernie Ball.)

Thanks!

That doesn't sound right at all. Cobalts should work just fine with any pickup on the market. Personally, I think these strings are great, louder, more bass, more harmonics, they have their own unique tone and they sustain at least as well as any other string out there.

If you think it's the strings, and not perhaps a problem with your guitar or amp, you should contact customer service. That's what they're there for.
