I find Slinkys are easier to play compared to other brands of the same gauge. Why is this? Different steel composition?

It's all subjective, there are as many opinion as there are guitar players. You find your favorite string brand if you try out various strings.

Seems like Slinkys have less tension though. Easier to vibrato and bend.
Could be. I don't use Slinkys myself -- good strings though -- but I don't have problems with vibrato and bend with the string brand I use. It's all so personal based on practice, fingers, habit, how often strings are replaced, actual guitar setup, size of strings, string height, guitar tuning used and so on and so on...

I agree, easier bending. They remind me of the NYXLs from D'Addario which have way more stretch to them, yet they always shrink back to the starting tension after bends etc.

They are, and I've used them for like 30 yrs, love em. I can't say exactly why, but there are DEFINITELY differences in the feel of a string depending on the composition of materials.
