Hello!

A friend of mine is thinking about getting a Bass. He wants to get a Bass called OLP. It is basicly a look-alike MM. His hands are small so I don't know if a OLP because I have never played an OLP and I don't know if it would be too hard for him to play. If anyone has everplayed an OLP or something similar please tell me if it would be to fat of a neck on the Bass for my friend with smaller hands.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

OLPs are built to EBMM specs so they should be the same feel as a StingRay. About the "small hands" thing.... I don't have big mitts at all but all I usually play are 5string basses and an upright and I can definitely hold my own as to my playing ability and facility in getting round the neck. Tell your friend not to stop himself before he gets started by that issue, just grab a bass and see if it feels good and then go from there, if it is a huge deal and he wants to be pulling off some mad skills then suggest to him to look into getting a short scale bass, that is also an option....
but OLPs are great basses for their price and are built to EBMM specs so he should be happy with that until he can afford a SUB and then the Grail, a Bongo ;)

Sterlings have small necks, and if that is too much $ the new SUB Sterlings will be hitting the stores soon:D

I too have small hands. However, I frequently play a five stringer and have played the MM StingRay 4. At first, it was a bit odd, since I was used to the narrow spacing of strings from my five stringer. However, the width of the neck wasn't an issue for me - it's just that the strings were more apart than I was normally used to. Recently, I went Guitar Center and tried out various MM basses and have found that the string spacing is no longer an issue for me. I can play very fast and accurately on the StingRay, even with its wider neck and my small hands. Like Psychicpet said, it'd be best to let your friend try that OLP out. It's not a StingRay, but, since it's modeled after the specs of the SR, I'm sure your friend will be adjust and consequently find that the SR is not biggie to tackle.

I went to the music store this afternoon and they had an OLP 5 string. I played it and I liked it so much I ordered it today. I think my friend is going to order one also.
