Question Snapping Strings on my JP!!!!!!!

Right guys i want to know if anyone else has this problem, I've had my JP6 Piezo for about a year now and i love it, (toyed with the idea of getting a luke, but have fallen back in love with her). anyway. i am snapping A and D strings like crazy, its such a problem and happens at nearly every practice or gig. never snap strings on my other guitars at all so I'm pretty sure its not a technique thing. the strings seem to snap right at the bridge and its getting ridiculous now. grrrrrr.

does anyone else have this problem?

As i said the guitar is piezo equipped, i play jazz 3 plectrums and power slinkys. any ideas? please help because its starting to depress me. hehehe

Initially I thought you were using a techinique (snapping/pinching) similar to a
bass player "slapping" his string - oh, well.

Yeah, those strings are breaking way too maturely. When did it start (there's your clue!)

You need to troubleshoot and find out why, and also check and see if you have it set up right.

How old is the guitar (I know you've had it a year), and who's messed with it since it's DOB??

If it's under warranty call CS, if not have a skilled guitar person in your area look at it. Don't give up - You'll locate the culprit!!!!

Are you using the same brand of strings bought at the same time? COuld be a run of bad product.

As Lou says, could be a run of bad strings. Are the balls coming off the end or the string is actually shredding? Could be burrs on the saddle or through the bridge, worth checking out to make sure everything is smooth.

+1 to this. Especially if it is the same string (or in your case, strings) every time.

Yes, I have had similar issues with D strings breaking rather frequently. I don't want to go into too many details, but I have found it frustrating too.

Never had a problem with mine. I've not broken one string on my JP since i've had it. I'm going on 3 years now. I've had some pretty intense jam sessions on it too. There must be a burr like someone else said....

i would pull the saddle off and inspect it. Also is the angle really sharp...ie. the saddle really high? for me dadario's break the least out of any string i have tried.

Im closing this with the following advice


If you guitar is breaking strings in the same place it is a problem with the string path.

If it is under warranty we will fix it

if it is not under warranty wewill fix it at a charge or you can go to a luthier of your choice

It is not a bad batch of strings.

I hate cs threads because it just doesnt let us fix a problem and you get well meaning people sending people on a different track and the obligitory bandwagon jumpers.

Paranoid if you have a problem please let us fix it. you thread is a cheap shot.
