So I saw the gray petrucci model at GC a few days ago and I really like it and so I have decided to start selling off all my other guitars cause as of right now all I play is my morse and sub 1. I really dont like the feel of my other guitars anymore. I put all this stuff up on craigslist within the past few days and I have to say 1 out of every 10 emails is actually serious. Some are weird spam emails that make no sense and the others are i will give you 100 dollars even though you listed it for 250. it is really starting toget on my nerves now. and I really dont like using ebay. I have some things in a local music store on consignment I guess we will see how that goes, but i really would love to buy that Petruuci.
just venting a bit guys don't mind me.

Yeah Craigslist is pretty much a waste of time these days.

Sorry to be devil's advocate, but can you sign up for a GC credit card? They usually do 12 months no interest if you sign up. :D

you know i could but i was trying to avoid doing that, i might go put it on hold and see how the craigslist thing pans out , but really it is getting to be such a waste of time. between the low ballers and then the people arguing cause the prices arent what they want and all the stupid posts about it its getting to be ridiculous

Craigslist is a wasteland. Good call too on trying to avoid an unnecessary credit card. Try eBay, though you'll likely get much less for your stuff.

If you really want the JP, you'll find a way to make it happen!

Yeah...

i had a listing up not too long ago giving away a set of golf clubs and i agreed to meet and the other party was about an hour late... so it's rough even when you're trying to give stuff away.

I have had good experiences I got my morse with a trade for a les paul so that was a good day and he was a nice guy. I sold some pedals without any major issues but lately it seems really difficult to sell anything. I figured it out if the stuff I have on there now and its a lot from years of buying gear. I could get the JP and also afford to get the mesa boogie mark v head. so ya never know maybe it will happen. I am friends with the store manager so im going to go down tomorrow and see if they will hold it for me at least. maybe pay them as i sell stuff so i dont lose it.

I decided a while back that I wouldnt have craigslist people at my house, even though I had some good sales on there. The risk of robbery is too great. That and the phishing responses. I had a guy call to tell me I was asking too little for an item, but he didnt want to buy it either.

I'm going to be the one to disagree on craigslist. I constantly buy/sell lower priced guitars that I'd like to just check out. Sort of like being in Guitar Center for 2 weeks straight with a guitar. Then I put it back on craigslist. Just sold one last week. I'm usually selling for right around what I paid. There are some keys to selling on cl.....

Always, always, always put in the following lines:

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
Include your phone number or I'll assume you're a bot and delete your reply
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

and then when you get a response with no phone number, delete it. I can't tell you how many times I get a real response with no phone number and a few hours later, another reply with the phone number.

I've never had an issue with someone coming to my house, but have also met people at some 1/2 way point. I buy a lot of stuff at a local music store (Daddy's Junky Music) and have brought a guitar to their store and (with their permission) showed a guitar there. Done similar at a sears.....at my office....brought a battery powered amp and showed at a mall.....

You do have to remember that veteren craigslist users will probably know values very well and are used to someone trying to sell that Korean version of an American guitar for more than the American guitar is even worth. Just price a bit higher than you would take. It could take a few weeks to find someone looking for what you've got, but people often are looking for exactly the guitar you're selling.

Good luck...you'll sell it.

I don't have problems with Craigslist. By and large it is a fantastic way to buy and sell used stuff. I have got some ridiculously great bargins on musical equipment, electronics, and especially furniture. I have also sold a lot of things including musical gear... some stuff I sold was basically junk I was just going to throw away (old cabinets, ceiling fans, lamps, etc.).

Just be patient. Good luck.

I am being patient but this one kid is killing me with his questions about a 10 dollar eq pedal. it works perfect just doesnt look pretty, but he wants to know the history of it.

tell him Joe Hindrux used it on his song Purple Days... and it's bound to gain in value over the years...
