Today i went to a shop inquiring about a bass set up on my SUB 5. Ive had problems with fret buzz and they said try going back to the dealer i got it from due to a problem with the Frets around the 10th, 11th fret. Now I brought a SUB 5 at the beginning of the year and slighty over 2 months of having that it had to be replaced due to fret problems. Now this one has to be replaced aswell.

Has anyone else had any problems of any sort with their MM bass like this. I know Musicman are known for being 1 of the best manufacturers of bass guitars there is and i love the tone i get from the SUB (apart from the buzz) but really this isn't how i thought the starting of being a proud owner of a MM should be.

I would say it is probably an isolated incident. As you said Music Man is known for their great build quality and service. I'm sure if you go through the proper channels, you will be able to get it fixed as good as new.

Far be it from me to question the competence of a shop I know nothing about, but I would - just as in a medical situation - get a second opinion. There is a fairly simple way to check for a high or low fret using a straight edge, and unless there is something we dont know, for an experienced repair guy, it's also an easy fix.

I guess I'm just a little suspicious that TWO basses have had the same issue.

Yeh i thought that but i mean first time i got it set up the guy said he couldnt get the action any lower than he did it and he set it very very high so i high i really couldnt play it comfortable and to me that isnt right only being able to have the action extremly high with no fret buzz

i think juan Gitarez needs to trim it's hedges for you,

your shop sounds like it does a poor job, but i could be wrong.

have the manufacturer do it,
