So, people keep saying that the 20th Anniversary Silo is the best-sounding guitar they've ever heard, made, etc. Well...what about the BFRs? What do you, who have played them, think of those? How do they compare? Or am I asking this question far too early? Surely, some of you have tried them at NAMM. Any opinions?

I don't know. I am not knocking the 20th in any way, but I didn't think it sounded or felt much better than my Silo Special. Maybe I am a dumbass, or just in love with the SS. However, I will say that the 20ths are pretty much the coolest looking guitars ever.

I am sure the BFR series are going to be KA, but there is just something special about the 20th , the feel the look and the tones, just a well designed guitar that will go down in history :D

None of us knuckleheads can comment on the BFRs because no one has played one yet. Its like judging a book by its cover.

I think it is safe to say that everyone of us that has ordered a BFR without playing one will find it to be the best and most beautiful guitar we have ever owned, Just like those of us who bought 20th Anniversaries found them to be the best and most beautiful guitars we have ever owned. :) It's just like girlfriends.......

Well, some might have had the chance at NAMM, though (e.g., Keith, Pete, Norm, Lonney, or anyone else who might have made it there).

I would say the BFR's are second best
This is a prejudice cause I love the 20th's and I have only played a BFR once.

I've played both, but I have only played the BFRs through headphones.

I'm gonna love them as much as the 20ths when they start rolling through.

As good? Yes
Different? Yes

The 20th Anniversary Silhouette set a new benchmark for EB guitars.

The rosewood Axis & y2d started it, the 20th put the pieces together and it came out huge. The formula works wonders. The BFRs will be awesome.

I would think that the biggest difference would come down to the type of pickups in each guitar and the string guage used on each.
I mean, they all have the mahogany tone block, neck on JP BFR is mahogany vs. maple on the other two, not sure about the body wings though.
With that said, I would think that the JP BFR would sound just like the current one (which sounds absolutely great to me) only thicker. The Luke, however, will probably sound totally different than the current, all alder luke.......same pickups though, so?
I guess it depends on what you prefer....I'd probably prefer the silo if it was a non-trem, because again, it has a direct effect on sound.
