I've not cared much for the Bongo's styling. Not much at all. I've played them and thought they sounded good, but the looks were a turnoff. So yesterday, I cruising the new Web site and watched some of the videos of people playing Bongos. Perhaps it's just me but that bass looks a lot cooler around someone's neck when it's being played than it does hanging on the wall. I think I'm starting to like the looks. Go figure.

On a related not, I read on Talkbass that GC is clearing out the Bongos. Is this true?

You're not alone bud, that's exactly what i've been thinking lately....because if your playing it, you're not looking at it. ;)

I'm starting to put feelers out for a Bongo 5H , but am wondering if the Mrs will notice it!.........how stealthy is the stealth model?? :D

I've been wondering the same thing. It's hard to tell with GC. The information seems to vary depending on the store and you never know if the kid behind the counter actually knows what he's talking about or if he's just pulling it out of his a$$, trying to make you think he knows what he's talking about so that he can sell you some gear.

I get compliments all the time on my Bongo. I play in church and our drummer and our pastor especially love the look.

Sunday we had a group of folks from out of state I believe it was Viginia came to our Sunday Service and one of the ladies ask me what kind of Bass that was that I was playing. I told her a Musicman Bongo. She said it looked much different than anything she had ever seen before, but in a good way. And then added that the sound of it was wonderful.

Our drummer comments on it after nearly every service. It gets attention, not only with it's looks but it tone too...........I'm Blessed to be able to own one.....:)

I have a 4 Banger in Saffire Black.......:D

Length of ownership: two years, seven months.

Number of comments about "strange" looks in that time: Zero.

Number of compliments on looks and sound: Many. I don't keep track.

Just relax and let the Mind Control Rays take effect. You'll feel better once you have bought one.

I agree that it looks different and somehow better when being played.

I've gotten positive comments on looks from most non-bassists I've shown it to. I've gotten positive sound comments from the musicians I've played with. I've only gotten the "How do you like its looks?" question from other bassists.

I've flooded my brother with bongo picks since the bongo 6 came out, and he never liked it, he totally hated it, just like the famous quote, like a toilet seat. He changed his mind after the DT concert thought. Myung had a black and a silver one, and both looked killer to him, specially the black. Now we agree the best possible bass ever has to be a Stealth Bongo 6

Wearing a Bongo is like putting on a superhero suit. The first thing you notice is how comfortable it is. Then you check the mirror and think "hey, this looks futuristic and cool". And when you start messing around with it, you feel a surge of power flowing through you, as if you can destroy entire buildings with your right index finger.

Yeah, it's like that.
