Well, I absolutely love my SR5. It took me some time to get used to a 5th string, but now everything is OK for me.
Though, I love the vibe of 4ers. I made my decision : next bass (in addition to SR5, not in replacement) will be an SR4.
Why not a Sterling ? I have nothing against BP
, but the fact is, I like necks to be a bit wider than that. Sorry about talking about another brand, but I always felt more "at home" on a P than on a J.
I don't know yet if I'll choose a maple or rosewood fingerboard. My SR5 is rosewood, I guess taking a maple 4 would be a good addition. But who knows ?
Pickup config : single H. For me, it's "the real thing". The real Ray vibe.
Now the finish. Oh, I don't know. Tempted by tobacco burst, tempted by pacific blue burst, tempted by natural, tempted by black. Hard to choose.
Anyway, this purchase is not for now. I have time to make my decision on finish.
Any suggestion - of any kind - will be welcome.
Cheers
Jean
