I am going to check out System of a Down and The Mars Volta TONIGHT in SD!!! I have to tell you, I have been wanting to see both of these bands live for a while, and now I get the chance to see them both in ONE SHOW!

For those who are interested, I'll try to post a review of the show tomorrow...

For those of you not interested, you have got to check out more of thier music. I find it to be extremely avant-garde (can you say that about such hard rocking bands?:D ).

Sorry for the late reply...just got back online->

Alrightythen....Just got back from the concert, and let me tell you right off the bat, FANTASTIC CONCERT. Now, onto the individual awards:

The Mars Volta:

I love this band. They came out of the gates very fast and hard with some Frances The Mute tracks. They then weaved only a couple of tracks from Deloused In The Comatorium with MANY ambient noises or jams or whatever you wish to call it. This band is a must see, and my only complaint was I felt the set list was a bit short. However, I feel this is mainly due to the fact that they were the opening act for SOAD. Great job! PS: Cedric-Singer BLEW MY MIND with his vocal range and power.

System Of A Down:

I have gained a great deal of respect for this band on a musical level tonight. I am a big fan of their latest album Mezmerize, and most of their earlier works. From the intense rock riffing, all the way to thier songs' architecture, I dig them. However, they outperformed themselves this evening. And the best part was that they played over 1.5 hours of NON-STOP SOAD (and I really mean NON-STOP!). The energy of the band was intense-almost never ending, and the perfection of their live performance was something I was very impressed with (especially with Daron-Guitar). The entire band has incredible stage presence, and they ALL know how to coerce the crowd into joining the musical onslaught.

Drewbixcube's final answer: Rockers, do anything you can to see this tour. You will not be let down.

I would also like to send a special thank you to Brian and his buddy Ted for making this possible for me this evening. I couldn't have seen the concert w/o them!

Something that I wish to add here is how during every album, the vocal harmoy improves ten fold. On songs like Radio/TV (I think that's what it's called) the harmonies are priceless. Another thing that SOAD are great at doing. Just wondering why DM is using SGs now. It wasn't long ago that he had a signiture 'Nez made for him. Hopefully he follows in Petrucci like style to leave 'Nez for MM.
