Hey everybody I need to pick some brains.

All of a sudden I'm breaking the D string on my Axis (floyd), but only the D. What's more, it's getting more frequent too. I'm thinking it's a burr on the saddle but if so what should I do about it?

I'm aware of the 'flossing' technique with the traditional string-thru trems but obviously can't do that on a floyd. Any suggestions?

For the record I had the same thing happen on an Ibby a couple of years ago (the A saddle) and a change of string manufacturer sorted it. I'm guessing the different make of string layed across the saddle at a slightly different position and avoided/wore-away the burr. Is this a sound theory or am I just chatting BS? <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f644.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt="" title="Roll eyes " data-smilie="11"data-shortname="" />
Thanks in advance for the help guys. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" />

By the way, I just threw down a deposit on a buttercream Luke. Should have it in a few weeks. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f60e.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt="" title="Cool " data-smilie="6"data-shortname="" />
Cheers.
