Some advice please guys

<div class="bbWrapper">Hey everybody I need to pick some brains.<br /> <br /> All of a sudden I&#039;m breaking the D string on my Axis (floyd), but only the D. What&#039;s more, it&#039;s getting more frequent too. I&#039;m thinking it&#039;s a burr on the saddle but if so what should I do about it?<br /> <br /> I&#039;m aware of the &#039;flossing&#039; technique with the traditional string-thru trems but obviously can&#039;t do that on a floyd. Any suggestions?<br /> <br /> For the record I had the same thing happen on an Ibby a couple of years ago (the A saddle) and a change of string manufacturer sorted it. I&#039;m guessing the different make of string layed across the saddle at a slightly different position and avoided/wore-away the burr. <div class="bbWrapper">I had this problem on my EVH a few years ago where I kept breaking my d string in practice, always at the brodge just where the string leaves the trem - I got through a lot of strings before I spotted a tiny, miniscule piece of rust exactly at that point which was causing the breakage. I picked it off with my plectrum (I know - not exactly delicate) and haven&#039;t broken a string on that guitar in years <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" /></div>

The Luke has a great but very different feeling neck to it but I suggest you try it out. The Pet blew my mind, it&#039;s stunning and has such a full, rich sound to it. The forearm cutout is great too, very comfy. The luke just done everything that I thought it would and more besides. It&#039;s the attention to detail I love with EBMM, the floating trems on the Lukes even have a strip of felt on the underside to protect the body work and the buttercream has to be seen to be appreciated. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /> <br /> <br /> Thanks for the help JimmyP I think I&#039;ll try changing brands for now, I&#039;ve inspected the saddle and can&#039;t see any burrs or rust visible so will have to get a magnifying glass on it. I won&#039;t be messin with the intonation thanks Steve so changin the saddle with the low E is out, thanks anyway tho. You sold the EX yet? Started a band up in Telford? <div class="bbWrapper">Tommy, <br /> <br /> no I&#039;m using Ernie Ball Super Slinkys but funnily enough I WAS using D&#039;addarios when I had the same problem on the Ibby. Switching to Balls cured it then.<br /> <br /> Any suggestions?</div>
