Hey Guys,

I don't want to seem like I'm grandstanding and I know this is OT...but you guitar cats are a great bunch and I figured I'd drop this here since maybe this has/ does affect someone you love...This past Monday my grandfather, Clarence Owen Thorpe lost his battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 87 years old (1918-2006). I've kinda taken on the cause of spreading awareness in light of his passing since not enough research (based on my research) is being done, and our government pretty much funds everything else but Parkinson's research...we set up donations in his name with the Parkinson's Disease Foundation in lieu of flowers, as well I've been spreading the word in general because it is a slow, devastating process of degradation to bare witness to...and I'd never wish it on anyone...

Thanks for hearing me guys,

Jon Z.

OC, sorry to hear about your grandfather, I've been there and it's tough especially if your really close.

Hang in there man.

OC,

Sorry to hear about your loss.

A very dear friend of my family had contracted that dreaded disease and it was very sad how quickly it can develop while doing nastly things along the way.
At least he had a good number of years and I'm sure you have many great memories.
I guess we all get our turn to deal with the not-so great things in life.
But having a bunch of great people like the ones at this forum makes things feel better at times.

OC,

Sorry to hear about your loss. I have been through that pain also and I understand your feelings.

Let it out and move on
Missing what’s gone
They say life carries on
They say life carries on and on and on

Life carries on
In the people I meet
In everyone that’s out on the street
In all the dogs and cats
In the flies and rats
In the rot and the rust
In the ashes and the dust
Life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on

It’s just the car that we ride in
A home we reside in
The face that we hide in
The way we are tied in
And life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on

Did I dream this belief?
Or did I believe this dream?
Now I can find relief
I grieve

My condolences. I know how you must feel. I lost my mother last year after a long period of illness. It's hard to see the ones you love suffer, and there's wery little you can do about it, exept maybe just being there fore them.

Maybe he feels better now, I hope it.
You and your family feel the pain, he doesn´t any more.
That´s what helps me through the pain if someone close to me passes away.

I hope you feel better soon.

OC,

It's hard to watch a degenerative disease rob your loved one of their dignity and then their life. My condolences to you & your family. I lost my grandfather in '04.. not Parkinson's but another drawn-out condition.
