The original reason I ordered the AL HH in Starry Night was the blue-ish tint of the first pictures on the MM website.
Then the Sweetwater pics came out, and they showed a much blander, less sparkly, greyer color. I was really disappointed and based on the comments form those threads, a few other of us were left scratching their heads.
But... then I saw the picture of the JV on DGCL and... well. I really, really hope all the Starry Nights are like this, and that the Sweetwater pics are just not great.
My JV is astoundingly beautiful. It's just sparkly enough to catch the eye, without being gaudy. It's got multiple color layers, from grey, to blue, to even a hint of purple once in a while. It's hard to describe, but it is NOWHERE NEAR the blander grey of the Sweetwater pictures.
The burst is very subtle, bordering on the nonexistent. I'd have favored a more obvious burst but eh...
Finally, on my JV at least the non-matching, roasted headstock looks great with the finish. If you guys were worried about this, feel free to look at my other thread (don't want to make two threads showing my guitars off
), which includes a full body shot (oh my).
In conclusion: Sweetwater pics = disappointing, DGCL pics = better, actual guitar = stunning.
