Guy must like low end...on the 5150 head, his low (3rd knob going L-R) and resonance (8th knob going L-R) are both dimed out.

He must also be deaf; the 6th knob is the rhythm post gain, set at 5...I play with a loud drummer, bass, keyboards, and two vocalists on like 2.5 on my post gain (my rhythm post gain is at 5 for clean, pre at 5 as well, bright and crunch off...gets an acceptable clean)

 You can see that?

My "main" EQ settings are done through my rack equipment.
The EQ on my head will always vary depending on the room or whether I'm playing with a band or just noodling by myself. The settings you're looking at would be me "noodling" by myself. And yeah, by memory, my lows are "dimed out", mids are dropped (I hate mids, but need em when playing live or with a band to cut through the mix), highs are at 12:00 and presence is between 12:00 and 3:00. This probably sounds like $@&t when going direct, but through my rack equipment, it sounds VERY good. I often get alot of compliments on my "tone".

Now, playing live or with a band is a totally different story...
I back off the resonance, and add some mids to help cut through the mix.

As for my levels? ...
The knob must have gotten bumped. I don't play that loud AT ALL.
Even live, my levels don't go beyond 3.

You've got some great peepers there Derryll!
Now ... can you tell what the settings are on my guitars?
How about the string guages I use? :D

Do I have to go back to spelling your name with ONE "L" again?

Oh, snap Dino! I didn't know that was your pic! Sorry about the deaf remark, dude...what? :D I too have a block letter 5150 original, I know that front panel. :) My settings are usually (in this order, L-R):

5.5 (bright/crunch off) - 5.5 - 6 - 2.5 - 5 - (posts, adjust to drummer :D) - 3.5 - 7.9 (a tad above 8) -- if I need a quick increase, the output on my G-Major takes care of that.

As far as the EVH, quit your whining...you had your chance. Your little black and yellow toy was more important, so there. LOL! :p

Your guitars are at 3 and 5, respectively, and you use 11-14-16-24-32-42 on both (I dunno, I just recited my string gauges to make it look like I had a clue!)

You also might want to wipe that smudge off by the upper horn. :D

I hear ya (pardon the pun) on the posts, Dino...I was playing around with my 5150 when I first got it back in '02. After stuffing some socks in my ear, I cranked it to 6, and I swear, chugging on the low E made a glass move across the table. That was COOL... :)

Finally, spelling my name with the one L won't hurt me here...you've already butchered it with the "Derryl"...I'm already scarred. :p

Dude, you CRACK ME UP! :D
My gut is still sore from laughing so hard!

How is it that you can see the settings on my amp, but you missed the G-Major in my rack! :D

Sounds like we have a very simular setup (minus the EBMM of course).
I'm also running an ancient GSP-21. I basically use it for my EQ, and other misc. effects that I run at all times. I use the G-Major just to "color" my overall sound.

And you leave my "smudge" on my black & yellow toy alone!
My guitars are meant to be played, not "diss"played. :)

Oh, and I see I've once again managed to butcher your name.
I think you should just give in and consider changing the spelling. :D

Na ... I bought the black & yellow one awhile back and got a pretty good deal on it. And the black & white one, I made myself.

I did however just sell a black and white one (that I made) on eBay.
My starting bid was only $99. People are going to pay what they feel it's worth. If you feel that it was too high, I'm sorry. I don't control what people are willing to pay. I recieved positive feedback and the new owner is very happy with his purchase. His wife told me that she was happy too, as I had saved them both over $2000! Apparently, the buyer had been looking at the new Charvels.

Now THOSE are "way way too much".

The black & yellow one IS actually a Charvel, but it's not an "Art Series" Charvel.
And thanks for the compliment on the black and white one. It's really a terrible picture, but I haven't quite figured out how to post pics here.

And yeah ... I was really glad that my buyer was happy with the guitar.
Alot of work went into making that guitar and it was alot of fun and a tremendous learning experience. :)

That's why I'm here, to entertain you. :)

I don't quite have a tendency to look at guys' racks. :D Actually, I was tunneled in on the 5150 front.

Yeah...the G is my main and only efx unit. I have an ART 351 31 band EQ, as well as a BBE 362 Sonic Maximizer (Crapimizer, as OC would call it :p), and my Sennheiser wireless. Pretty barebones, but it sounds good. Gives me that nice "a**" sound. (Who gets credit on that one...wasn't that you, Brother PS?)

OC and PS, just giving ya a hard time re: previous comments...to each their own. I like it, and I haven't heard any complaints from others yet (though with the 5150, I'm surprised that I can hear ANYTHING!) :)

I dig...I always say, "if it's pretty, it ain't been played..." So true.

I would say that that would happen the day that I sell my EVH, but I guess that my name would be Dosj3ssooe at this point. :) Otherwise, no way dude... :)
