Anyways Ive been tryng to figure out what the difference in sound is between a bass with a 2eq and 3eq preamp... I keep hearing ppl say a 2 band ray sounds different than a 3 bander... why is this... doesnt less eqing posibilities just imply that... less chance to tweak a determined sound?

My rays are all 3 eq basses and my friend has a 2band sub... his is punchier i could say but im not sure if its coincidence or if not why?

I've recently bought a 2 band ray and i've played 3 banders. I'd say 2 banders have a more zingy, aggressive tone but have a similar thump/punch to 3eq rays. I havn't played the two side by side but i'll probably will be soon.

I have to say I kinda miss the control of mids on my old bass but the punch of the stingray definately makes up for it. I guess i'll just have to buy a 3 bander (...and a bongo and a sterling ;)).

i've played both a 2eq and 3eq stingray side by side and i will say with the same amp settings the 2eq sounds a little but more tame in the mid range but i guess to me it also has a warmer tone but doesn't lack any punch that a 3eq might have...i would choose a 2eq stingray over a 3eq stingray for the most part because i've played mostly 2eq stingrays and i know the tone band of the treble and bass controls really well to get a sound i want...i do like having a mid control a lot of the times when i play in cover bands...
