Mynan What secrets? the magnet material has been discussed up one side and down the other the wiring diagrams posted a hundred times...Brian because you didnt read the thread doesnt make it a secret. I show you guys protos from the computer screen all the way through the finished product and then get accused of keeping secrets...go figure

Spent a bunch of time with the search function today and got all the answers I was looking for. I just wasn't digging deep enough...it has been discussed up one side and down the other. The threads I was originally looking at were started after everyone was sick of talking about it and it seemed like the people asking the questions were getting brushed off. I dug a little further back and found the answers.

It makes me want to get a Bongo5 to get the parallel sound of the SR4 in a 5-string. My plan is to get a Sterling5, I've been in contact with Pete about ordering one for me at NAMM, and then see how it compares to my SR5. Then I'll probably sell the SR5 and buy a Bongo and hopefully get an alnico SR5 in 09.

Anyway, FWIW.

Have you visited Gav's great MM history site that has been stickied to the top of this forum for the past 4 years?

Thanks for the great advice Mark...I guess I'd have to ask you the same question. Gav's site has a lot of great info on the history of the SR4 and it's preamp/pickups, but not much on the other models.
