I'm pretty sure this isnt changable because of the nut and the bridge but... Is there away you can make the strings closer together. It would make for faster play.

What sort of bass do you have? If you've got a four string Stingray and you find the string spacing a bit wide, get something like a Sterling, which has a narrower nut.

It's technically possible to reduce the nut width on a Stingray, but you need to start with one of these:

Ah yes but would doing that sort of work yourself really be plane sailing :D (sorry could not resist that one)
